A documentary short examining the life of George Manias, a 91-year-old shoeshiner who has operated his shop in Peoria, Illinois, for an astounding 76 years. Escaping the Nazi occupation of Crete at the age of 14, George’s journey is one of resilience, dedication and commitment to his craft. The film explores his daily routines, the impact of his sister Angela’s passing and his contemplation of retirement. George offers a window into a life devoted to service and the enduring spirit of a community icon, while exploring themes of perseverance, the passage of time, the significance of seemingly modest professions and the profound impact one individual can have on a community.
