Matt Richmond is a writer and director based in Chicago. His work as a commercial director includes projects created for Caterpillar, Purina, Discover Global Network, Country Financial, Hagerty Classic Car Insurance, Materne North America and Schnucks.
As a documentary filmmaker, his work has screened all over the world. His documentary short “George” was Oscar-qualified in 2023 and an award finalist at the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival and the Kalamata International Short Docs competition. His feature documentary “Never Had a Bad Day,” about a visionary engineer working in Alaska’s wilderness, premiered and won the Audience Award at the Boston International Film Festival. His debut feature documentary “Brauhaus,” about the untimely closing of a beloved family restaurant, is available on Amazon Prime Video.
Prior to commercial and film directing, Matt worked as a writer and producer for shows on CBS, Fox, MTV and more. He was Producer of CBS’s Big Brother from 2012-2017, overseeing seasons 14-19, Celebrity Big Brother season 1 and Big Brother OTT.
Matt worked as a copywriter and producer at several boutique creative agencies in the Midwest before that. From 2002-2005, Matt was founder and publisher of a monthly print publication called The Tap, dedicated to advocacy journalism for family owned bars and restaurants in Chicago.
